Israeli settlement in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

The United Nations affirms its position on the illegality of Israeli settlement activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory
In response to the events taking place in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem and that Palestinian families are at risk of expulsion, the United Nations stated that it is aware of the current situation there, and is closely following it.
At the daily press conference from the permanent headquarters in New York, United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric said: “Our position does not change: All settlement activities, including evacuations and demolitions, are illegal under international law.”
This came in response to questions from journalists regarding the risk of displacement of dozens of Palestinians from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, located in East Jerusalem, by settlement associations. According to the media, an Israeli court has granted a number of Palestinian families time to vacate their homes.
Dujarric referred to Security Council Resolution 2334 (which called on Israel to halt settlement activity in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem), and said that the international community would not recognize any change to the 1967 borders, including those related to Jerusalem, apart from any agreements reached by the parties through negotiations. .
