“يجب أن يتوقف القتال. يجب أن يتوقف على الفور. يجب وقف الصواريخ وقذائف الهاون من جهة، والقصف الجوي والمدفعي من جهة أخرى. أناشد جميع الأطراف أن تستجيب لهذه الدعوة.”
بهذه النداء استهل الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش، كلمته اليوم الأحد، أمام جلسة مجلس الأمن الدولي الطارئة التي تنعقد بطلب من الصين والنرويج وتونس، لمناقشة آخر المستجدات على صعيد التوترات في منطقة الشرق الأوسط والتي وصفها الأمين العام بأنها “الأخطر منذ سنوات” التي تشهدها غزة وإسرائيل.
الأعمال العدائية الحالية مروعة للغاية، وفقا للأمين العام الذي قال إن هذه الجولة الأخيرة من العنف “لا تؤدي إلا إلى إدامة دورات الموت والدمار واليأس، وتدفع بعيدا بأية آمال في التعايش والسلام.”

المدنيون يدفعون الثمن
وفي هذا السياق، أعرب الأمين عن استيائه الكبير من الأعداد الكبيرة المتزايدة من الضحايا المدنيين الفلسطينيين، بما في ذلك العديد من النساء والأطفال، من الضربات الإسرائيلية على غزة.
كما أستنكر القتلى الإسرائيليين جراء إطلاق الصواريخ من غزة، مشيرا بقلق عميق إلى الاشتباكات العنيفة بين قوات الأمن الإسرائيلية والفلسطينيين في جميع أنحاء الضفة الغربية المحتلة، بما في ذلك القدس الشرقية، حيث تتعرض بعض العائلات الفلسطينية لخطر الإخلاء.
وقال:
“في إسرائيل، أضاف العنف الذي تمارسه الجماعات، على غرار الحراس الأهلي والعصابات، بُعدا مروعا آخر لأزمة متدهورة بالفعل. يتحمل القادة من جميع الأطراف مسؤولية كبح الخطاب التحريضي وتهدئة التوترات المتصاعدة.” الأمر الذي أشارت إليه المفوضة السامية لحقوق الإنسان، ميشيل باشيليت، في بيانها الصادر أمس السبت حيث حذرت من “الطبيعة المنظمة للغاية لبعض الهجمات وكذلك اللغة التحريضية التي قد ترقى إلى مستوى التحريض على الكراهية العنصرية والدينية والعنف.”

“The fighting must stop. It must stop immediately. The rockets and mortars on one side must stop, and the air and artillery bombardment on the other hand. I call on all parties to heed this call.”

Civilians pay the price
