منظمة الصحة العالمية: الفطر الأسود مرضٌ نادرٌ للغاية، لا يحدث من خلال انتقال العدوى من شخص إلى آخر. ولا يُصيب سوى الذين يعانون من ضعف شديد في المناعة
ذكرت منظمة الصحة العالمي أن داء الفطريات العفنية أو الفطر الأسود حظي بكثير من الاهتمام العام، وثارت حوله بعض المعلومات المغلوطة.
وأشارت المنظمة إلى أن الفطر الأسود مرضٌ نادرٌ للغاية، لا يحدث من خلال انتقال العدوى من شخص إلى آخر. ولا يُصيب سوى الذين يعانون من ضعف شديد في المناعة. ويحدث نتيجةَ التعرُّض للفطريات الموجودة في البيئة المحيطة، عند استنشاق الأبواغ التي تنتقل بعد ذلك حتى تصيب الرئتيْنِ والجيوب الأنفية، وتنتشر حتى تصل إلى الدماغ أو العينيْنِ.
وعلى الرغم من عدم وجود صلة مباشرة بين كوفيد-19 وداء الفطريات العفنية، تظهر أعراض هذا الداء في بعض مرضى كوفيد-19 بسبب الانخفاض الشديد للمناعة، وعدم ضبط السُّكري جيدًا، وسوء استعمال الكورتيكوستيرويدات.
وأكدت المنظمة على أهمية التماس المشورة من اختصاصي الرعاية الصحية إذا كنتَ تعاني من حالات صحية كامنة، مثل السُّكري الذي لا يمكن ضبطه، والأورام الخبيثة التي تُعرِّضك لخطر الإصابة بمرض كوفيد-19 الأكثر وخامة والإصابة بالفطر الأسود.

The World Health Organization stated that mucormycosis, or black fungus, has received a lot of public attention, and some misinformation has arisen about it.
The organization pointed out that black fungus is a very rare disease, which does not occur through transmission of infection from one person to another. It affects only those with severely weakened immunity. It occurs as a result of exposure to fungi in the surrounding environment, when spores are inhaled, which then travel to infect the lungs and sinuses, and spread until they reach the brain or eyes.
Although there is no direct link between COVID-19 and mucormycosis, some COVID-19 patients develop symptoms due to severely reduced immunity, poorly controlled diabetes, and misuse of corticosteroids.
WHO stressed the importance of seeking advice from a healthcare professional if you have underlying health conditions, such as uncontrollable diabetes and malignancies that put you at risk of more severe COVID-19 and black fungus.
