دعت المنسقة الخاصة للأمم المتحدة في لبنان يوانّا فرونتسكا اليوم الدول المشاركة في مؤتمر افتراضي تستضيفه فرنسا لدعم الجيش اللبناني لبذل كل ما في وسعها لتلبية الاحتياجات الطارئة والعاجلة للمؤسسة العسكرية اللبنانية، والتي تأثرت بشكل بليغ جراء الأزمة الاقتصادية غير المسبوقة في البلاد.
وقالت السيدة فرونتسكا أن “الوقت الآن هو لدعم الجيش اللبناني وعناصره في جميع جهودهم للحفاظ على استقرار لبنان وتعزيزه.” وشكرت الحكومة الفرنسية على تنظيم هذا المؤتمر المهم في هذا الوقت الحرج كما والبلدان التي سبق وقدمت الدعم الطارئ للجيش اللبناني في الأشهر الأخيرة.
وفي إشارة إلى الدور المحوري الذي يلعبه الجيش اللبناني في الحفاظ على أمن لبنان واستقراره وفي تطبيق قرار مجلس الأمن 1701، قالت السيدة فرونتسكا إن تلبية احتياجات الجيش المادية والبشرية الفورية أمر ضروري لاستمرار عمله.
