أدان الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريش، “بأشد العبارات” اغتيال الرئيس جوفينيل مويز، رئيس جمهورية هايتي.
وفي بيان منسوب إلى المتحدث باسمه، قال السيد غوتيريش “يجب تقديم مرتكبي هذه الجريمة إلى العدالة.”
وتقدم الأمين العام بأحر التعازي لشعب وحكومة هايتي ولأسرة الرئيس الراحل.
كما دعا الأمين العام في بيانه جميع الهايتيين إلى “الحفاظ على النظام الدستوري، والبقاء موحدين في مواجهة هذا العمل المقيت، ونبذ كل أشكال العنف.”
هذا وأكد أن الأمم المتحدة ستواصل الوقوف إلى جانب حكومة وشعب هايتي.
تم انتخاب جوفينيل مويز البالغ من العمر 53 عاما، رئيسا لهايتي في عام 2016 وبدأ فترة ولايته في شباط/ فبراير 2017.
وتعد هايتي أفقر بلد في الأمريكتين وقد عانت من عدم الاستقرار السياسي والاقتصادي والإنساني الخطير لعدة سنوات. منذ بداية ولاية الرئيس مويز، خلف ستة من رؤساء الوزراء بعضهم البعض وكان قد عين رئيس الدولة الراحل رئيس الوزراء السابع في اليوم السابق لاغتياله.
قلق على مصير السيدة الأولى
وكان رئيس مجلس الأمن الدولي للشهر الحالي، ومندوب فرنسا الدائم لدى الأمم المتحدة، نيكولاس دي ريفيير، قد تحدث عن الواقعة الأليمة في بداية جلسة مجلس الأمن اليوم (التي تناولت الوضع في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى).
وقال “أود، بالنيابة عن أعضاء مجلس الأمن، أن أعرب عن حزننا لموت فخامة السيد جوفينيل مويز، رئيس جمهورية هايتي.”
وأضاف أن أعضاء المجلس يعربون عن صدمتهم العميقة لاغتيال الرئيس مويز الذي حدث في وقت سابق اليوم (07-07-2021) في العاصمة بورت أو برنس، كما أعربوا عن قلقهم على مصير السيدة الأولى، مارتين مويز، التي أُصيبت هي الأخرى أثناء الهجوم.
هذا وأعرب أعضاء المجلس عن عميق تعاطفهم مع أسرة الرئيس وحكومة هايتي وشعبها.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن مجلس الأمن قد شدد، يوم الجمعة الماضي، على الضرورة الملحة لإجراء انتخابات في هايتي هذا العام.
Condemns “in the strongest terms” the assassination of President Moyes and calls for those responsible for this crime to be brought to justice

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, condemned “in the strongest terms” the assassination of President Jovenel Moise of the Republic of Haiti.
In a statement attributed to his spokesman, Mr. Guterres said, “The perpetrators of this crime must be brought to justice.”
The Secretary-General offered his deepest condolences to the people and Government of Haiti and to the family of the late President.
In his statement, the Secretary-General also called on all Haitians to “preserve the constitutional order, remain united in the face of this abhorrent act, and renounce all forms of violence.”
He affirmed that the United Nations will continue to stand by the government and people of Haiti.
Jovenel Moise, 53, was elected president of Haiti in 2016 and began his term in February 2017.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Americas and has suffered from serious political, economic and humanitarian instability for several years. Since the beginning of President Moise’s term in office, six prime ministers have succeeded each other and the late head of state had appointed the seventh prime minister the day before his assassination.
Concern for the fate of the first lady
The President of the UN Security Council for the current month, and the Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, Nicolas de Riviere, spoke about the painful incident at the beginning of today’s Security Council session (which dealt with the situation in the Central African Republic).
“I would like, on behalf of the members of the Security Council, to express our sadness at the death of His Excellency Mr. Jovenel Moise, President of the Republic of Haiti,” he said.
He added that the members of the Council express their deep shock at the assassination of President Moyes, which took place earlier today (07-07-2021) in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and they also expressed their concern for the fate of the first lady, Martin Moise, who was also injured during the attack.
The members of the Council expressed their deep sympathy with the President’s family and the Government and people of Haiti.
It should be noted that last Friday, the Security Council stressed the urgency of holding elections in Haiti this year.
