في غزة ينصب على تقديم المساعدة للأطفال وإعادة إمدادات المياه

منذ أن دخل وقف إطلاق النار في غزة حيّز التنفيذ في الساعة 2 صباحا من يوم 21 أيار/مايو، عاد الهدوء إلى المنطقة. وتسعى الوكالات الإنسانية إلى تقديم المساعدة وتلبية الاحتياجات.
وقد تحققت مفوضية الأمم المتحدة السامية لحقوق الإنسان من التقارير التي تفيد بمقتل 247 فلسطينيا، من بينهم 66 طفلا و38 سيّدة، في غزة منذ 10 أيار/مايو.
وردّا على أسئلة الصحفيين في المؤتمر الصحفي من جنيف، قال المتحدث باسم مفوضية حقوق الإنسان، روبرت كولفيل، إن المفوضية تعتقد أن “129 من هؤلاء الضحايا كانوا من المدنيين”.
وأضاف أن الطواقم الدولية التابعة للمفوضية لم تُمنح تأشيرات لدخول الأرض (الفلسطينية المحتلة)، ولكنّها واصلت مراقبة الوضع عن كثب.
وأشار كولفيل إلى البيان الذي صدر في 21 أيار/مايو عن الخبراء الحقوقيين الذين دعوا جميع أطراف النزاع إلى احترام وقف إطلاق النار.
ودعا الخبراء أيضا إلى إجراء تحقيق من قبل المحكمة الجنائية الدولية بشأن الهجمات على السكان المدنيين وغيرها من الانتهاكات الجسيمة لحقوق الإنسان، والتحقيق في الأفعال والسياسات التي حدثت أثناء النزاع أو ساهمت فيه والتي قد ترقى إلى جريمة الفصل العنصري وجرائم ضد الإنسانية.
وقال ينس لاركيه، المتحدث باسم مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية (أوتشا) إنه بحسب معطيات المكتب، سقط 27 قتيلا في الضفة الغربية، من بينهم 22 رجلا وامرأة واحدة وأربعة أطفال. وبلغ العدد الإجمالي للإصابات 6,794 من بينهم 88 طفلا.
الوكالات الأممية تستجيب للاحتياجات
من جانبه، أوضح جيمس إلدر أن استجابة اليونيسف في غزة تركزت على إصلاح أنظمة إمدادات المياه، وتقديم التعليم والدعم السيكولوجي للأطفال والعائلات، وضمان توفير الأدوية الأساسية، وخاصة خدمة صحة الأم والوليد والطفل.
وأشارت فضيلة الشايب، الناطقة باسم منظمة الصحة العالمية، إلى أن المنظمة ستناقش الوضع في غزة والضفة الغربية في اجتماع يوم غد الأربعاء (26 أيار/مايو). وكانت منظمة الصحة العالمية قد سلطت الضوء في مؤتمر عُقد يوم الخميس الماضي على أهمية الوصول المنتظم إلى غزة، حيث أشار المسؤولون الصحيون في المنظمة إلى “التدمير شبه الكامل” للمختبر المركزي لفحص كـوفيد-19 في مدينة غزة، إلى جانب “القيود الشديدة” على توزيع الإمدادات الطبية.

In Gaza, it focuses on providing assistance to children and restoring the water supply

Since the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect at 2 am on May 21st, calm has returned to the area. Humanitarian agencies seek to provide assistance and meet needs.
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has verified reports that 247 Palestinians, including 66 children and 38 women, have been killed in Gaza since 10 May.
Responding to journalists’ questions at the press conference from Geneva, OHCHR spokesperson Robert Colville said that the commission believes that “129 of these victims were civilians.”
He added that the international staff of the High Commissioner did not grant visas to enter the (Occupied Palestinian Territory), but it continued to closely monitor the situation.
Colville referred to the statement issued on May 21 by human rights experts calling on all parties to the conflict to respect the ceasefire.
The experts also called for an investigation by the International Criminal Court into attacks on the civilian population and other gross violations of human rights, and for actions and policies that occurred during or contributed to the conflict that may amount to the crime of apartheid and crimes against humanity.
Jens Larquet, a spokesman for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said that according to the office’s data, 27 people were killed in the West Bank, including 22 men, one woman and four children. The total number of injuries reached 6,794, including 88 children.
UN agencies are responding to needs
For his part, James Elder explained that UNICEF’s response in Gaza focused on reforming the water supply systems, providing education and psychological support to children and families, and ensuring the provision of essential medicines, especially maternal, newborn and child health services.
Fadela Al-Shayeb, a spokesperson for the World Health Organization, indicated that the organization will discuss the situation in Gaza and the West Bank at a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday (26 May). The World Health Organization highlighted the importance of regular access to Gaza at a conference held last Thursday, where health officials in the organization pointed to the “almost complete destruction” of the central laboratory for examining COVID-19 in Gaza City, along with “severe restrictions” on the distribution of Medical supplies.
According to OCHA, in Gaza, six hospitals and 11 primary care centers were damaged, including one that sustained severe damage.
