ناشطة كينية في صفوف حفظة السلام تفوز بجائزة

مناصرة وناشطة كينية في صفوف حفظة السلام تفوز بجائزة لتسليطها الضوء على “الأبعاد الجنسانية الحاسمة” في دارفور
أشاد الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، بجندية حفظ السلام الكينية، التي حازت على جائزة مناصرة النوع الاجتماعي العسكرية الأممية هذا العام، لعملها في مجال تعميم مراعاة المنظور الجنساني أثناء خدمتها في منطقة دارفور المضطربة في السودان.
ونوه الأمين العام أنطونيو غوتيريش بمستشارة الشؤون الجنسانية العسكرية، ستيفلين نيابوغا، البالغة من العمر 32 عاما والتي خدمت في بعثة الأمم المتحدة والاتحاد الأفريقي المختلطة في دارفور (يوناميد)، لتميزها في عملها.
قالت الميجور أو الرائدة نيابوغا، وهي تتأمل في دورها بحفظ السلام، إنها “مسرورة” لأن جهود الأمم المتحدة في خدمة الإنسانية لها تأثير إيجابي ويتم الاعتراف بها.
وأضافت: “حفظ السلام هو مشروع إنساني: وضع النساء والفتيات في صلب جهودنا واهتماماتنا، سيساعدنا على حماية المدنيين بشكل أفضل وبناء سلام أكثر استدامة”.

تبرع جنود حفظ سلام تابعون لليونيفيل من الصين هذا الأسبوع، بأدوات طبية مدرسية وقرطاسية وتجهيزات رياضية لمدرسة في صور، جنوب لبنان.

Kenyan advocate and activist among peacekeepers wins award for highlighting “critical gender dimensions” in Darfur
The United Nations Secretary-General praised the Kenyan female peacekeeper, who won the UN Military Gender Advocacy Award this year, for her work on gender mainstreaming while serving in Sudan’s troubled Darfur region.
Secretary-General António Guterres commended the Military Gender Adviser, Stephen Nyaboga, 32, who served in the United Nations and African Union Hybrid Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), for her excellence in her work.
Contemplating her role as a peacekeeper, Major or Major Nyaboga said she is “pleased” that the United Nations’ efforts in the service of humanity have had a positive impact and are being recognized.
She added, “Peacekeeping is a humanitarian project: placing women and girls at the center of our efforts and concerns, will help us better protect civilians and build a more sustainable peace.”
