إنهاء الحظر المفروض على كوبا

الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة تطالب الولايات المتحدة للعام 29 على التوالي بإنهاء الحظر المفروض على كوبا.
صوتت 184 دولة يوم الأربعاء لصالح قرار يطالب بإنهاء الحصار الاقتصادي الأميركي على كوبا، للعام التاسع والعشرين على التوالي، فيما صوتت الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل ضده.
وفي الاجتماع الذي عُقد يوم الأربعاء داخل مقرّ الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، امتنعت ثلاث دول – كولومبيا وأوكرانيا والإمارات العربية المتحدة – عن التصويت.
ولكن، بدعم ساحق من المجتمع الدولي، تمت الموافقة على القرار الموجود منذ عام 1992 عندما بدأت الجمعية العامة بالتصويت على هذه القضية باستثناء عام 2020 فقط، بسبب القيود التي فرضتها جائحة كوفيد-19.
وفي حين أن تصويت الجمعية العامة له وزن سياسي من حيث الدبلوماسية الدولية، إلا أن الكونغرس الأميركي هو الوحيد القادر على رفع الحظر الاقتصادي والتجاري والمالي المفروض منذ خمسة عقود.End the embargo on Cuba

For the 29th consecutive year, the United Nations General Assembly has called on the United States to end the embargo against Cuba.
On Wednesday, 184 countries voted in favor of a resolution demanding an end to the US economic embargo on Cuba, for the 29th consecutive year, while the United States and Israel voted against it.
At Wednesday’s meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York, three countries – Colombia, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates – abstained.
But, with overwhelming support from the international community, the resolution that has existed since 1992 when the General Assembly began voting on the issue has been approved except for 2020, due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the General Assembly vote has political weight in terms of international diplomacy, only the US Congress can lift the five-decade-old economic, trade and financial embargo.
